Deer are becoming a problem for us and many of our customers. Hungry
deer have damaged plants in our cutting gardens and outdoor displays.
To combat this problem, we have
installed fences, acquired a dog (our devoted Australian Shepherd, Emily)
and learned which plants deer prefer. For example, last year deer
didn't eat snapdragons, celosia or zinnias but did eat the gladiolas and
sunflowers. Recognizing this, we now grow "deer-proof"
perennials and annuals. |
